Is this legally binding as an electronic signature? +

In many countries, yes — including the US (under ESIGN Act), EU (eIDAS), and UK. A drawn or typed signature placed on a PDF document is generally considered a valid electronic signature for most business and personal purposes. That said, highly regulated situations like real estate transactions or court filings may require certified digital signatures with a certificate chain. For everyday contracts, NDAs, service agreements, and forms, this works fine. When in doubt, check with a legal professional.

Does my PDF or signature get sent to a server? +

Never. Both PDF.js (for rendering) and pdf-lib (for embedding) run entirely in your browser. Your file and your signature image are processed in local memory. Nothing is transmitted anywhere. This matters a lot for contracts, financial docs, and legal agreements — you don't want those on someone else's server.

Which signature method looks most professional? +

Uploading a PNG of your actual handwritten signature (scanned or photographed on white paper, then background removed) gives the most professional result. If you don't have that, drawing with a mouse takes a bit of practice but looks natural. Typed signatures in script fonts are quick and clean — fine for most internal documents. For legal contracts that need to look like a real signature, go with drawn or uploaded.

Can I sign on a specific page, not just page 1? +

Yes — use the page navigation arrows in the preview to go to any page in your PDF. The signature gets placed on whichever page is currently showing when you click Apply. Navigate to page 12 of your 14-page document, drag the signature to the signature line, and apply.

My drawn signature looks wobbly — any tips? +

Drawing with a mouse is genuinely hard for most people. A few tips: slow down and use your whole arm rather than just your wrist, try a lower brush size for finer strokes, and don't worry about it being perfect — real signatures are always a bit wobbly. If you have a touchscreen device, drawing with your finger is much more natural. Alternatively, sign on paper, photograph it on a white background, and use the Upload tab instead.

Can I add a signature to a password-protected PDF? +

If the PDF is encrypted and restricts modifications, the tool will likely error when trying to process it. PDFs that only require a password to open (but allow editing once open) may work fine if your browser has already unlocked them. Truly locked PDFs that block all modifications can't be signed with any browser-based tool — you'd need to remove the restriction first using the original owner password.
